Aqua Fun
‘Teacher, the Aqua Park has an indoor pool, right?’
‘No, there’s only the outdoor pool. A giant one!’
‘But, how can we swim if it’s raining?’
‘Well, it’s a special outdoor pool. It collects rain water and warms it up- so you can swim in rain water!’
‘Reaally?’
No, not quite. We eventually told them the truth as we embarked towards Aqua Park on that particular kind of cats&dogs rain that makes even an umbrella think twice about playing its instrumental part in the world.
The water slide was well in place. And everybody found their way down the orange peel.
…and into the blue jello.
This just goes to show you that you can have fun even if the weather lacks the most commonsensical of considerations for your carefully thought-of plans.
And if attitude doesn’t scare them off, there is nothing like a karaoke night in dress-up to cast away the hovering rain spirits. If ‘trick or treat’ works for Halloween, it might also function on a more modest occasion, in the mountains, on a plain, damp evening.
Do you know what doesn’t function in the mountains on a plain, damp, evening? Starting a bonfire. That was really hard work, and we got actively involved. It was a good deal of work, lighting it- and convincing it to stay like that, lit- but, in the end, we managed. In style, as always 😉
