Ready-Steady-Go – Day 2
They teach you everything here.
And they feed you a sweet breakfast! What more to ask for, other than croissants, milk and cereal, butter and jam? And, by all means, the classical cup of tea to go with…well, just about everything…
I was full, I couldn’t say no to any of the specialties on the menu, be they for breakfast or for lunch.
But I am getting ahead of myself here. Food may do that to me from time to time 🙂 after all, I am only growing!
This morning meant some serious climbing. I was a bit nervous at first, since it was about to be my first time ever on a climbing wall! But when they tightened and fastened everything, helmets, ropes, belts, I knew we were all in good hands. Besides, nothing like a session of extreme training, involving vigorous effort garnished with team work, to get me prepared for my aspirations to become camp king 😉 The same goes for the fencing classes that followed right after. By the end of this camp, I am convinced I will have turned into a British lord!
The weather in the UK is living up to its reputation these days. We had rain to greet us. So perhaps straw hats are not the most helpful of items, even though they do wonders to one’s look!
Maybe the most notable part of today was that we had our language tests and then we were split into study/play groups. Of course, I have a great level! But there is always room for improvement. This is the ideal place for just that and the first round of courses did well in proving it.
What else should I tell you? We tried the famous custard sauce for dinner and we played ‘socks basketball’ with a rolled up pair of….you’ve guessed- socks! using a fencing helmet as a hoop! Creativity reigns supreme here, wouldn’t you say?
We also tried our luck in crafting little cardboard capsules for water balloons. The capsules were supposed to protect them from breaking when thrown from the balcony. Unfortunately enough, we weren’t as lucky as that- and neither were the balloons:
Better luck next time! Like they say, you win some, you lose some!
Even so, we are on the plus side with everything and we are excited about all the fun things ahead 😉
