Flying Colours at The Color Run
Flying Colours. The Color Run.
See what we are hinting at? It was irresistible!
There is evident compatibility in terms of colour, but in others as well (although we couldn’t quite match color with colour all the way, meaning our British spelling of the word with their preference for the American one 😉 )
Truth be told, we love a challenge, especially one that taps into your vitality and energy, and that was precisely what The Color Run had to offer. Not to mention that it was all in the good name of education! And one noble purpose justifies the (very) coloured means 😉
We put on the t-shirts for the occasion and pinned the marathon numbers to their fronts- and backs.
‘To the front, only to the front!’ an overzealous yell threatened some of us that had got that part wrong in a way that felt so right!. Thank heavens for the final minute to do the switch- careful with the tiny pins and trembling fingers, though!- and then to stretch legs, hop around and warm up muscles to the booming sound of the music.
5, 4, 3, 2… and off we go! Unexpectedly little time had gone by when the first colour shower splashed us yellow. Didn’t know that yellow could smell so nice! 😉 And so did red, green and orange, all of the other powders that they sprinkled all over us (sunglasses were a great idea, by the way!).
If anyone fell short of colour, they could grab a powder tube and ‘paint’ themselves until satisfied. And if that was still insufficient, rolling on the ‘sandy’ ground under the shower arches would do the trick 😉
When completely proud of the make-over, waving at the cars passing in the opposite direction was definitely the right thing to do. The more colored the attire, the prouder the strut. Or run 😉
The sun was all for it, it shone and shone until it saw us ready to do the same: at the end of the fifth kilometer, we took a deep breath and got ready to bask in glory when passing through the final, inflatable arch that said ‘shine’!
And shine it was, as innumerable particles of sparkle stuck on top of all the others pigments that made any given runner (ourselves included) look as if they’d been going up and down the rainbow, on all fours, all day long 😉 top that with medals for everybody, and you have one happy bunch of smiling, glittery participants.
In all honesty, there’s nothing better than a marathon where we are all winners 😉
With this last belief as well, we can identify. Together with the atmosphere, the feeling of connectedness, the magic! So, like we said, we have a lot more things in common, other than the passion for colours flying around 😉 there’s also the trust in everyone’s ability to succeed in their own rhythm, at their own pace and with the proper track to follow…wouldn’t you agree?
